Everything You Need to Know About Elastic Bands Non-Latex
These are non-latex elastic bands designed for use with sleep appliances (oral devices for sleep apnea), aligners, retainers, or other orthodontic appliances.
Unlike latex bands, they minimize allergy risk for people sensitive to natural rubber; so you get reliable force without the irritation.
They apply gentle but consistent tension to help keep your mouth closed when used with a sleep device, or move/stabilize teeth when used in orthodontics.
Your dentist or orthodontist will guide you on how to hook them to the right points (e.g., hooks, aligner buttons or attachments) and may ask you to change them at certain intervals for maximum effectiveness.
Since these are under constant tension, replace them regularly; worn-out bands lose elasticity and won’t deliver the right corrective force.

Usage Guide
-
Prepare Your Appliance
Make sure your aligner or retainer is clean before attaching elastics. A quick rinse under cool water removes food particles and keeps the hooks clear so the bands can grip properly.
-
Insert Your Aligner/Retainer
Place your appliance gently in your mouth and ensure it sits flush against your teeth. A secure fit helps the elastic band apply the right amount of tension during wear.
-
Attach the Elastic Band
Hook one end of the elastic onto the prescribed button or attachment. Stretch it carefully and connect the other end to the matching hook. A steady stretch allows the band to deliver consistent corrective force.
-
Wear Consistently
Keep the elastic band on as advised by your orthodontist, usually most of the day and night. Continuous wear helps guide your bite correction smoothly, and the band works best when not removed frequently.
-
Replace Regularly
Swap your elastic band for a fresh one whenever it starts feeling loose or after several hours of use. Changing bands often ensures steady tension and keeps your treatment progressing efficiently.
